Turning off your TV will put your Switch to sleep. During the height of holiday travel in 2017, there were a lot of reports of lost Nintendo Switches. And remember the person answering the phone didn’t make the decision. When you turn on your Switch while its connected to the dock, your TV will also turn on. Worst case you’ll know the dock can stay at home. Plus, they're super cheap and I find that, applied properly, a glass protector actually improves the look and feel of the plastic screen. On the Nintendo Switch, this means the following will happen: When you put your Switch onto the dock, it will automatically change your TVs input to the Switchs display. I hate screen protectors (again, usually too careful to need 'em), but in this case, they totally negate the issue because glass is way harder than the Dock's plastic. Robin, I own six Joy-Con and none of them drift - you won't find me out here saying that claims of drifting are "disingenuous" just because it hasn't happened to me.ĭmckPower, get a tempered glass screen protector. That's not to say it'll happen to everyone, but it DOES happen in SOME cases. Im going to make this absolutely simple for you: The Switch OLED. But its improved kickstand also means tabletop mode makes more sense now. I regularly air-dusted the Dock, wiped down my Switch, and docked like a surgeon - still scratched the screen due to a slight bend in my Dock. The OLED Nintendo Switch has a bigger, better display. A clear screen sandwiches the console in the dock for a more secure fit, but it’s optional. Just like the Switch, you can slide the console onto the dock to connect it via USB-C. The dock has two ports each for Nintendo 64, GameCube, and USB controllers. I have obsessive tendencies toward cleanliness and care for my space, as well as for how my environment looks. The dock has an HDMI out port, as well as one USB-C port and an Ethernet port. As such, even perfectly careful use can cause the harder plastic of the Dock to rub against and scratch the softer plastic of the screen. The 8BitDo wireless adapter (seen here plugged into the Switch's dock on the right side) lets you connect nearly any modern game controller. Then you would press any key on your external keyboard to wake up in clamshell mode. Older OS X systems would go to sleep at that point, simply by closing the lid. and if youre reading this then you wondered too. Think about what you do to enter that mode in the first place: Power on, connect external display/keyboard/mouse. Some Docks are a little bent inward even some Switches aren't perfectly straight (some have slightly bent bodies). The Nintendo switch lite releases Friday, September 20th and I wondered what happens if you try to dock it. The deal with the Dock scratching is down to manufacturing inconsistencies and the fact that both the Switch Dock and the unprotected screen are made of plastic. Unplug your power cable from the wall and your dock and wait for 30 seconds. If the issue does not occur then there’s a chance that you have a defective Dock. Please don't take the "it didn't happen to me, therefore it doesn't happen" approach. If you have access to another Dock then try using this with your TV and Switch console.
